Situation:

The Chernarussian government has formally requested the aid of US forces following an attempted coup by a group calling themselves the New Chernarussian Movement of the Red Star.

While the coup was unsuccessful, the plot involved one Colonel Aleksandr Novotny of the Chernarussian Defence Force, a highly popular and influential figure in southern Chernarus. It’s estimated that at least three battalions of CDF forces stationed in South Zagoria are now under his command, operating under the flag of the nChDKZ.

Fighting has broken out across the country, with insurgent cells attacking government and military facilities and militia forces seizing small towns and villages. With the bulk of the CDF tied up fighting fires, they are unable to form a force large enough to decisively engage the more substantial rebellion in the south.

The Chernarussian Prime Minister has requested intervention, citing the US military’s success in defeating the ChDKZ rebellion in 2009. History seems to repeat itself.

Enemy Forces:

  • New Chernarussian Movement of the Red Star

Total force composition unknown; largely a militia force. However, in our AO they have been bolstered with the defected CDF battalions including:

    • Motorised and Mechanised Infantry
    • Unknown number of tank platoons
      • CDF tank platoons are generally made up of T-72s, with T-55s filling gaps
    • At least three Mi-24 Hind gunships
    • Mi-8 Hip transport helicopters
    • SA-19 Grison (Tunguska), ZSU-23-4 Shilka, and ZU-23-2 anti-air defences
    • SSC-6 Sennight anti-ship cruise missile launchers

Friendly Forces:

  • 17th Ranger Battalion
  • 9th Air Commando Group
  • Chernarussian Defence Force
    • A small number of loyalist forces are holed up in the AO and could provide support if contacted

Civilian Considerations:

Television and radio broadcasts have warned citizens to stay indoors as much as possible. A pre-dawn raid reduces exposure as best as possible, but expect at least some civilians present in the AO.

Mission:

Under the express order of CIC EUCOM, elements of the 17th Ranger Battalion and the 9th Air Commando Group will be the first US forces to return to Chernarus since the September Crisis in 2009.

Conduct a pre-dawn raid to cripple the nChDKZ leadership, Command and Control and anti-ship defences, paving the way for the rest of the battlegroup to commence its invasion at dawn.

Execution:

Conduct air assaults from USS Valley Forge on provided enemy targets. Signal battlegroup on mission success.
