Situation:

Following the establishment of 17th Ranger Battalion operations in Lythium, S2 has begun identifying individuals involved in the movement of weapons and supplies to armed groups throughout the region.

Recent HUMINT and surveillance have identified Mohammad “Musa” Ahmadi, a local weapons facilitator believed responsible for acquiring, storing, and distributing weapons and ammunition to armed elements operating in the area.

Musa has recently been observed operating from a compound near Kunara. Armed personnel have been observed around the location, and intelligence indicates the compound may also serve as a temporary weapons storage and distribution point.

Musa's connections beyond the local area remain unclear.

His capture and the exploitation of the compound may provide the Battalion with its first significant insight into the logistical network supporting hostile forces throughout Lythium.

Enemy Forces:

OPFOR:

Hostile forces in the area consist primarily of locally organized armed fighters equipped with small arms, machine guns, RPGs, and limited light vehicles.

Musa is believed to maintain a small armed security presence at or near his compound. Additional hostile personnel may be present depending on ongoing weapons or supply activity.

Enemy strength inside the target compound is currently unknown.

Local armed groups may attempt to reinforce the objective if sufficient warning is provided. Expect enemy forces to use surrounding compounds, vegetation, walls, and elevated terrain for cover and observation.

No organized enemy armored or aviation threat is currently expected.

Friendly Forces:

BLUFOR:

17th Ranger Battalion will conduct the operation.

Ranger elements will be responsible for isolating the target area, assaulting the objective, capturing Musa, conducting Sensitive Site Exploitation, and extracting all personnel and recovered intelligence.

Supporting elements will remain available in accordance with the mission commander's plan.

Civilian Considerations:

Kunara and the surrounding area remain populated.

At 0530, civilian activity is expected to be limited but should increase as the operation progresses into daylight.

Civilians may be present inside residences, agricultural areas, and along roads surrounding the objective.

Musa is known to operate within the civilian population and does not openly distinguish his logistical activities from legitimate local commerce.

Positive identification of hostile personnel is required.

Commanders should limit unnecessary damage to civilian structures and maintain control of fires inside populated areas.

Mission:

17th Ranger Battalion conducts a pre-dawn direct-action raid near Kunara to capture Mohammad “Musa” Ahmadi, disrupt his weapons distribution activities, and exploit the target location for intelligence concerning the movement of weapons and supplies throughout the region.

MUSA IS WANTED ALIVE.

His intelligence value currently exceeds his value as a battlefield casualty.

Execution:

At 0530 on 12 SEP 26, Ranger elements will move into the target area under pre-dawn conditions and establish containment around Musa's suspected compound.

The early-morning assault is intended to achieve surprise, restrict Musa's ability to flee, and prevent personnel at the objective from removing or destroying intelligence.

Once isolation is established, the assault force will clear the objective, locate and positively identify Musa, and place him into friendly custody.

Following seizure of the compound, designated personnel will conduct Sensitive Site Exploitation (SSE).

Priority should be given to recovering:

Phones and electronic devices.
Documents and correspondence.
Weapons ledgers or financial records.
Maps and handwritten notes.
Information identifying weapons caches.
Information identifying suppliers, couriers, or other facilitators.

Weapons and materiel discovered at the objective will be secured for intelligence purposes or destroyed as directed.

Following exploitation, friendly forces will extract Musa and all recovered intelligence from the objective.
