Weather: Clear skies with winds from the N-NE expected at 7-10 knots, possible light dust storms.

Situation:

Following the successful flank assault, we have been able to create a foothold near Sossanna. This has drastically undercut the enemy's ability to stage assaults across the border, and we are now able to directly pressure several major centers of operation in the north.

BNA forces are expected to answer this with a massive counterattack, and we need to prepare for a defense in depth in the Sossanna region. If we can hold this position and break the BNA counterattack, we will be ideally staged to receive further reinforcements, as well as continue with a concerted assault on the Sossanna region.

With limited support, the BNA forces west of the Mt. Topkov pass will be largely separated from the bulk of their forces to the East, That said, we expect they have been using underground staging areas for much of their armored corps to avoid observation and attack, and we do not have an exact understanding of the extent of this underground network as yet. Expect them to throw everything they have at us.

Civilian Considerations:

Possible civilian presence expected in major population centers.

Some civilian presence possible but unlikely in vicinity of Sossana.

Uphold Battalion ROE, limit damage to civilian infrastructure.

Mission:

The 17th's Mission today is simple. Hold this ground. Supporting fires from the USS Liberty are on standby, and we have managed to move some heavy armor onto the beach head to support defensive operations. Dig in and inflict maximum casualties on the enemy to force a retreat.

If the situation remains viable, staging a counterattack of our own may be possible. Consolidate your forces and prepare for any opportunity to seize nearby strategic positions as the situation develops.


Execution:


  • Conduct defensive preparations
  • Repel BNA counterattack
  • Assess remaining combat power, and potentially stage to initiate an assault on remaining enemy positions in the vicinity.
  • Consolidate forces in the area and take any available strategic positions in the vicinity of Sosanna.
