Opord

Situation

After a successful entry into the theater of operations we have been able to entrench ourselves in the insurgents back yard. This helps us but also gives them the advantage. To keep the enemy off balance we will need to go after the head of their organization. Before they get an opportunity to regroup, we will move to capture HVTs and search their domiciles for intel that will help eliminate the cells being frown here and abroad. In the dead of night we head in hard and fast, pluck a ripe big wig off the vine, and reap the fruits of our efforts back at base. In and out boyos lets do this.

Execution:

Air Assaults are the name of the game this week. Alpha and Echo will split into 2 self contained elements able to redeploy and assist each other if necessary. Simultaneous raids on HVT locations and CAPTURE missions with CAS. The deck of cards is below:

Responsiblities:

  • Powerline
    • Provide strategic oversight.
    • Maintain communication across phases
    • Coordinate and keep track of progress
    • Reorient Battalion if necessary
  • Alpha
    • Split into 2 elements
    • Self contained attacks on compounds known to hold enemy HVTs
    • Seek intel at compounds for future OPs
  • Echo
    • Direct support via CAS
    • Logistics for the moving Alpha around to the two OBJs
    • Provide ISR
      • Predominantly advising of approaching enemy formations
      • Advising on approaching enemies
      • Establish resupply point at FOB HAVOC to decrease time and distance to rearm Alpha.
    • CAS ROE
      • All Asset initiated fire missions shall be passed through JTAC to Alpha/Echo CO for approval unless engaging on free fire runs
        • Advise JTAC when going in on free fire targets
      • Free Fire on MBTs within 800 m of Batt. unless a tank is within range to assist
      • Free Fire on BMPs, BTRs within 400 m of Batt. with precise munitions unless a tank is within range to assist
      • Free Fire on enemy vehicles that are a threat to air platforms or threaten LZs

    • BCO will give final overview and expectations
    • COs will brief vehicle commanders and squad leaders of final tweaks and expectations/needs
    • Overview of JIPs:
      • JIPs shall spawn and be rejoined with their element AFTER the raid in their respective OBJ is complete to avoid alerting enemy forces
    • Each element should plan to resupply after each OBJ to be prepared, reorient and prepare plans where necessary, and remain light
  • Phase II: Prep 1905 CST

    • Alpha preps for quick, light combat with support teams
    • Echo finalizes flight plan and order of operations
    • Battalion forms up into 2 elements each made of tentatively forces outlined below. For reference sake the elements shall be designated POWERLINE 1 and 2 reporting to POWERLINE 6. Company COs will retain direct control however if need be the BCO shall adjust deployment and use of these elements as a whole. For example if there is a new OBJ to adjust to POWERLINE 6 will advise the COs to send POWERLINE 2 related elements to that OBJ.

      • Find HVTs and intel vital to future operations

    • Whichever element completes their OBJ first will be primary on this OBJ with the second in support when they finish their OBJ

    • Both elements shall return to the airfield once command has ensured there are no more immediate mission needs.

Nonverbal Coordination:

  • Green: This is used to mark friendly positions on the field.
  • Blue: Marking suitable locations for Landing Zones.
  • Red: This is used for marking enemy positions for all units to reference.
  • Yellow: This is used to inform friendly forces that Immediate medical support is needed.
  • Purple: This color represents a friendly position with enemy units danger close, Anyone outside of 100 meters away from the smoke should be assumed hostile.
  • Orange: This tells anyone in the air that a friendly unit is in desperate need of resupply.
