Opord

Situation

3 years have passed since the disastrous pull-out of all US forces from Afghanistan. Evil has taken hold of the region in many forms. The Taliban and IS are dug in, crushing all who oppose their will as well as going toe to toe with each other. The whole region has turned into the wild west, and we are to clean it up by any means necessary.

Our first task is to clear and take control of the twin bridges (The Old Bridge and The New Bridge). This will be a brutal fight. The enemy is dug in and thick in numbers.

Area of Operation (AO):

AO: Bala Murghab, Afghanistan

Forces in Play:

Opfor:

  • Taliban
  • IS

Blufor:

  • 17th Ranger Battalion

Greenfor:

  • n/a

Engagement Criteria:

Most Likely Course of Action:
  • OPFOR will put up a strong defence and potentially request reinforcements from the North or South along MSR APPLEGATE or from the South East along MSR REID.
Most Deadly Course of Action:
  • The 17th Ranger Battalion is repelled and forced to fall back to the Airbase. OPFOR continue to fight amongst one another and make life impossible for any civilians.
Civilian Considerations:
Civilians still live in this region. Where possible, we are to provide humanitarian aid to the civilians.
  • (Interact with civilians and give them humanitarian items from ALiVE mod)
PID everyone that you see.
  • IF THEY ARE ARMED, fire at will.
  • IF THEY ARE NOT ARMED, do not engage. Attempt to provide humanitarian aid when safe.

Mission:

The 17th Ranger Battalion will deploy from the North-Eastern Airfield in order to push through the main city of Bala Murghab and secure both the Old Bridge (North side) and the New Bridge (South side). Heavy enemy resistance is expected. There are also reports of enemy AA Teams lurking in the mountains to the West of our objectives. Civilians in the area should be assisted with humanitarian aid when safe and appropriate.

Execution:

The 17th Ranger Battalion will (regrettably) insert into the AO via convoy. Alpha will dismount at the marked position and proceed on foot towards OBJ Dust and OBJ Sponge as a single platoon. Echo will move alongside Alpha squads to provide support. Once OBJ Dust and OBJ Sponge are cleared, both Alpha and Echo will move to OBJ Polish together, clear it and prepare for any potential counter-attack. Simultaneously, RRC will push through the Western mountain range from the North in order to hunt and eliminate any AA teams they find.

Objectives:

  1. OBJ Dust and OBJ Sponge
  • Clear and capture the Old Bridge and the area surrounding it.
  • OBJ Polish
    • Clear and capture the New Bridge.
  • OBJ Stain
    • Hunt enemy AA Teams in the mountains to the West.
  • Provide humanitarian aid to civilians.
  • CONOP:

    • Phase 0: Vehicle Staging

      • Vehicles will be chosen at the discretion of Echo and RRC leads.
      • Once vehicles have been chosen, Echo will stage the convoy so it is ready to move.
    • Phase I: Brief

      • Once briefing is complete, make final adjustments to gear and mount up.
        • NON-RRC VEHICLES ARE TO BE DRIVEN BY ECHO ONLY.
    • Phase II: Prep

      • Convoy will move along MSR Khalifa to the dismount point.
        • VEHICLES ARE TO STAY ON THE MSR UNTIL THE DISMOUNT POINT IS REACHED.
        • BRING A MINE DETECTOR, LOOK OUT FOR IEDS.
      • If the convoy receives enemy contact between the Airfield and the dismount point, vehicles are to be dismounted. Once the contact has been cleared, everyone is to remount and the convoy will continue.
    • Phase III: Dismount point and approach

      • Once dismounted at the marked position, Alpha (AS A SINGLE PLATOON) and Echo will push through the smaller villages and the North sector of Bala Murghab city towards OBJ Dust and OBJ Sponge.
        • SOFT CLEAR UNTIL CONTACT RECEIVED.
      • RRC will split from the main convoy and make their way to the North of OBJ Stain (Potentially using the Northern Crossing). From there, they will push South through the mountains, hunting and eliminating any enemies they find.
        • SPECIFICALLY ENEMY AA TEAMS.
    • Phase IV: OBJ Dust and OBJ Sponge

      • These objectives are expected to be heavily defended. Alpha will push through any an all compounds around the OBJs while Echo provides vehicle support along the roads, keeping an eye out for any approaching reinforcements along the MSR's.
    • Phase V: OBJ Polish

      • Only once OBJ Dust and OBJ Sponge have been cleared, Alpha and Echo will move to OBJ Polish together and clear out any remaining contact at the New Bridge and the surrounding area.
      • Once clear, prepare to defend against any potential counter-attack while waiting for extraction.
    • Phase VI: RP/AAR

      • All units prepare for debrief.
