Opord

Situation

3 years have passed since the disastrous pull-out of all US forces from Afghanistan. Evil has taken hold of the region in many forms. The Taliban and IS are dug in, crushing all who oppose their will as well as going toe to toe with each other. The whole region has turned into the wild west, and we are to clean it up by any means necessary.

We received intel that the Taliban are moving an unknown chemical substance and are planning on using it on the local population and ISIS if need be. We have narrowed down the possible locations of where these unknown chemicals could be stored. Raids will be conducted at each location via air assault to try to locate them.

Area of Operation (AO):

AO: Bala Murghab, Afghanistan

Forces in Play:

Opfor:

  • Taliban
  • IS

Blufor:

  • 17th Ranger Battalion

Greenfor:

  • n/a

Engagement Criteria:

Most Likely Course of Action:
  • 17th is able to locate and destroy the chemicals before the Taliban can weaponize them or IS can steal them and do the same.
Most Deadly Course of Action:
  • 17th in unable to locate the chemicals. Taliban and IS fight over the chemicals and one or both sides weaponize them. Causing a crisis within the region.
Civilian Considerations:
  • Civilians may be in the area, although if they are spotted inside enemy compounds, we are free to engage.
Engagement Criteria:
  • FIRE AT WILL.

Mission:

The 17th Ranger Battalion will deploy from the North-Eastern Airfield in helicopters to raid 5 possible locations that the Taliban are hiding chemicals that they intend to weaponize. Alpha will split into 2 to hit multiple objectives simultaneously. Each squad should have a fireteam wearing MOPP gear, in case the chemicals are found. IS Forces are also aware of the chemicals, be prepared to fight multiple factions.

Execution:

The 17th Ranger Battalion will insert into the AO via helicopter to perform multiple air assaults. LZs will be cleared by CAS and the transport choppers will make quick 3 second landings for everyone to dismount. Alpha will then push in to clear each compound and search for chemicals. Once the compound is cleared and/or the chemicals are found, fireteams in MOPP gears will remove any chemicals. Teams will then remount QUICKLY and move on to the next OBJ. OBJ Acid will be hit by both squads.
