Opord

Situation

3 years have passed since the disastrous pull-out of all US forces from Afghanistan. Evil has taken hold of the region in many forms. The Taliban and IS are dug in, crushing all who oppose their will as well as going toe to toe with each other. The whole region has turned into the wild west, and we are to clean it up by any means necessary.

With our presence in the area, an uptick in IEDs and general fuckery is afoot. We have been tasked with conducting a route clearance and locating an IED factory in the North. We will perform this under the guide of a humanitarian aid mission. As such, we are to carry and supply aid to the local population.

Area of Operation (AO):

AO: Bala Murghab, Afghanistan

Forces in Play:

Opfor:

  • Taliban
  • IS

Blufor:

  • 17th Ranger Battalion

Greenfor:

  • {Placeholder}

Engagement Criteria:

Most Likely Course of Action:

17th clears MSR APPLEGATE of any and all IEDs, while fighting against enemy forces that are defending the area around IED factories.

Most Deadly Course of Action:

17th is repelled and IED production continues, making future mission far more difficult to manage. Enemy forces gain a larger foothold in the North.

Civilian Considerations:

Civilians still live in this region. Where possible, we are to provide humanitarian aid to the civilians.

(Interact with civilians and give them humanitarian items from ALiVE mod)

PID everyone that you see.
  • IF THEY ARE ARMED, fire at will.
  • IF THEY ARE NOT ARMED, do not engage. Attempt to provide humanitarian aid when safe.

Mission:

The 17th Ranger Battalion will deploy from the North-Eastern Airfield towards the river's Northern Crossing. From there they are to push through all objective areas to clear any IEDs and mines along MSR APPLEGATE while searching for and clearing out any and all IED Factories they can find. Civilians will be provided with humanitarian support when it is safe and appropriate.

Execution:

The 17th Ranger Battalion will once again insert into the AO via convoy (My sincerest apologies!). Once the convoy reaches OBJ Primer and OBJ Lever, Alpha will dismount and provide cover while an EOD team along with Echo mine disposal vehicles work to clear the route. The objective areas must also be searched for IED factories. Once clear, the convoy will re-form to the South of OBJ Lever and move to OBJ Pin. Rinse and repeat.

Objectives:

  1. OBJ Primer:
  • Clear a route across the Northern Crossing into OBJ Lever
  • OBJ Lever:
    • Find and defuse any IEDs and mines in the area along MSR APPLEGATE.
    • Search for and clear out any IED factories.
  • OBJ Pin:
    • Find and defuse any IEDs and mines in the area along MSR APPLEGATE.

  • Provide humanitarian aid to civilians, IN AND AROUND ALL OBJS.
  • CONOP:

    • Phase 0: Vehicle Staging

      • Vehicles are to be chosen at the discretion of Echo lead.
      • Once vehicles are chosen, Echo will stage the convoy, ready to leave.
    • Phase I: Brief

      • Once briefing is complete, make final adjustments to gear and mount up.
        • VEHICLES ARE TO BE DRIVEN BY ECHO ONLY!
    • Phase II: Prep

      • Convoy will move West along MSR KHALIFA, then North along MSR JEAN until it reaches OBJ Primer.
        • VEHICLES ARE TO REMAIN ON THE MSR UNTIL OBJ PRIMER IS REACHED.
        • BRING A MINE DETECTOR. LOOK OUT FOR IEDS.
      • If the convoy receives enemy contact between the Airfield and the dismount point, vehicles are to be dismounted in order to clear the contact. Once clear, everyone is the remount and the convoy will continue.
    • Phase III: OBJ Primer and OBJ Lever

      • Dismount at the Northern Crossing at OBJ Primer will be cleared of any enemy contact while an EOD team and an Echo mine disposal vehicle clear out any IEDs or mines.
      • Once inside OBJ Lever, begin clearing IEDs an mines along MSR APPLEGATE.
      • The entire area must be searched for any IED factories, so that it can be cleared/destroyed.

    • Phase IV: OBJ Pin

      • Dismount on the North side of OBJ Pin.
      • Once inside OBJ Pin, begin clearing IEDs an mines along MSR APPLEGATE.

    • Phase VI: RP/AAR

      • All units prepare for debrief.
