Situation:
Continued exploitation of intelligence recovered during recent operations has provided additional insight into the weapons network responsible for supplying hostile elements throughout Lythium.
Analysis of recovered records and communications has identified an upcoming movement of weapons and ammunition believed to be connected to the same supply network previously associated with Mohammad “Musa” Ahmadi.
The shipment is expected to move through AO APACHE toward BRAMAR. Intelligence indicates the movement may provide the Battalion an opportunity to disrupt the weapons supply chain and recover additional information concerning individuals responsible for coordinating weapons distribution throughout the region.
The name RAHMAT has appeared repeatedly during ongoing exploitation and is believed to have a role within the network. His exact position, location, and level of involvement remain under investigation.
Enemy Forces:
OPFOR:
Hostile forces associated with the weapons movement are expected to consist of locally organized armed personnel equipped primarily with small arms, machine guns, RPGs, and light vehicles.
The shipment is expected to travel with an armed security element capable of providing immediate protection to the vehicles and cargo.
The size and exact composition of the convoy remain unconfirmed.
Personnel involved in the weapons network should be considered capable of attempting to destroy, conceal, or remove sensitive material if they believe the shipment is at risk of capture.
Friendly Forces:
BLUFOR:
17th Ranger Battalion elements are operating throughout Lythium and are prepared to conduct operations against the suspected weapons movement in AO APACHE.
Battalion ground and aviation assets are available to support the operation as directed by command.
Civilian Considerations:
Civilian traffic and local population movement should be expected throughout the operational area.
BRAMAR and surrounding settlements remain populated, and civilians may travel along roads potentially used by hostile elements.
Positive identification of hostile personnel and vehicles is required prior to engagement.
Commanders should consider the potential presence of civilian vehicles and noncombatants when selecting engagement areas and employing supporting fires.
Mission:
17th Ranger Battalion conducts operations in AO APACHE to locate and interdict a suspected weapons shipment moving toward BRAMAR in order to disrupt hostile logistics operations and enable exploitation of captured personnel, vehicles, weapons, and associated material.
Execution:
17th Ranger Battalion will move into AO APACHE and establish positions capable of observing and interdicting the suspected weapons shipment.
Upon positive identification of the shipment, Ranger elements will isolate and secure the convoy while limiting unnecessary destruction of vehicles and cargo when tactically feasible.
Following consolidation of the objective, Ranger elements will conduct Sensitive Site Exploitation (SSE) of enemy personnel, vehicles, cargo, communications equipment, and documents.
Recovered intelligence will be reported and exploited to further develop the hostile logistics network.
Elements should remain prepared to execute follow-on tasking within AO APACHE based on intelligence recovered during the operation.
