Civilian Considerations:
Mission:
a. Enemy:
The insurgent forces are entrenched within the urban environment of Nazal Old City, where they have fortified key positions and utilized complex defensive measures, including sniper teams, IEDs, and ambush points. These forces are estimated at 300-500 personnel, well-supplied, and have significant local knowledge of the area. They are employing asymmetric tactics and urban warfare to hold key infrastructure and deny access to Allied forces. The enemy is believed to have strong points in critical areas, including governmental buildings and intersections, with supply caches dispersed throughout the city.
b. Friendly Forces:
17th Ranger Battalion is tasked with clearing and routing the insurgent force from Nazal Old City. Guntrucks and Close Air Support (CAS) will be used for force multiplication and suppression of insurgent positions during clearing operations. Combat engineers will assist with IED clearance and breaching. UAVs will provide intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) support.

Objectives:
The operation will be executed in three phases:
Phase 1: Initial Assault and Perimeter Establishment (1600-1700)
The battalion will enter the Northernmost edge of Nazal Old City and establish a perimeter.
Gun trucks will Provide suppression fire on enemy positions while combat engineers clear the main entry routes and detect IEDs.
Alpha Company will lead the assault into the city, securing the first two blocks and establishing a safe entry point for follow-up units.
Phase 2: Urban Clearing Operations (1700-1900)
Engage insurgents in street-to-street, house-to-house combat, utilizing guntrucks for fire support and suppression in key areas.
Forward Observer teams will call in artillery or CAS strikes on identified enemy strongholds and sniper positions.
UAVs will provide real-time ISR, assisting in identifying enemy positions and movements, while helping direct CAS and guntruck engagements.
Combat engineers will focus on breaching and clearing IEDs while ensuring safe passage through identified choke points.
Phase 3: Secure Key Infrastructure and Hold (1900-2400)
Clear and secure critical infrastructure, including governmental buildings, communication hubs, and key intersections.
Continue clearing operations, suppressing any remaining pockets of resistance.
Guntrucks will maintain mobile suppression along key routes and assist in holding cleared sectors until follow-up forces arrive.
Establish defensive positions to secure the area and allow follow-up stabilization operations.
b. Tasks:
Alpha Company: Lead the assault into the city, secure the southern perimeter, and clear the first two city blocks.
Echo Company: Provide support by fire, reinforce urban clearing, and secure adjacent sectors.
Provide suppression and Gun truck support during the advance into the city. Engage enemy positions with heavy firepower during clearing operations.
Combat Engineers: Identify and clear IEDs, breach obstacles, and assist in route clearance.
UAV Operators: Conduct real-time reconnaissance to identify insurgent movements, critical targets, and key infrastructure.
Forward Observers: Coordinate artillery and CAS support for identified enemy strongpoints.
Medical Evacuation (MEDEVAC) Team: Standby for casualty evacuation as needed, with designated CASEVAC points along the southern perimeter of the city.
Service Support:
a. Logistics:
Resupply of ammunition, medical supplies, and food will be conducted via helicopter and convoy at designated times and locations.
Key logistical drop zones will be identified within the southern perimeter of the city for efficient resupply operations.
b. Medical Support:
Field medical teams will be positioned at key points, and CASEVAC points will be established at the southern edge of the city for rapid evacuation of casualties.
Medical evacuation will be supported by ground transport or helicopters, depending on battlefield conditions.
COMMANDER’S INTENT
Our primary goal is to regain control of Fallujah and neutralize all hostile forces while preserving infrastructure and minimizing civilian casualties. Success in this operation will significantly weaken the enemy's influence in the region, providing us with an opportunity to establish a lasting peacekeeping presence. Focus on teamwork, communication, and the careful identification of targets to ensure mission success.
Rules of Engagement
Use the minimum force necessary to secure objectives.
Be aware of civilian presence in all sectors; minimize collateral damage and work to restore order immediately after each successful objective capture.
Any military-age male identified as carrying weapons should be Considered Hostile
Hostile fire will be met with return fire, but identification of threats should be confirmed before engaging.
