(1) Higher HQ Mission and Intent:

NATO's Strategic goals are to crush the enemy and their will to fight.

Occupy the Southern port (OBJ Portunus) and provide Forces in the North of NATO lines to blunt potential enemy assault.

Civilian Considerations:

Stated goals require the target population to look favorably to NATO Forces, and don’t do anything to significantly impact the NATO world image.

Engagement Criteria:

  • MLCOA (Most Likely Course of Action) Enemy forces will attack key terrain, such as the port town attempting to overwhelm coalition forces.
  • MDCOA (Most Deadly Course of Action) The Enemy gains and maintains air superiority, increasing response times for 17th forces to assist Coalition forces in their defense.

Mission:

Enemy Forces, emboldened by a recent coalition slowdown have staged a complex counterattack all along coalition lines. BLUFOR is to halt the advance, repel the attackers and ruthlessly counterattack eliminating or capturing as much enemy personnel and equipment as possible.

Positive Identification of all targets is required. Military structures and personnel are valid targets. Avoid destroying civilian infrastructure.

SERVICE AND SUPPORT


(1) Transportation:

Rangers will be transported through the AO by helicopter if possible, and by ground vehicle if needed.

(2) Supply:

Resupplies will be while in motion as much as possible, Alpha company will take from Echo assets anything required to do the job. Echo should load Medical supplies and common ammunition into helicopter inventories. Additional resupply follows battalion SOP.

Personnel Services Support.

(1) Method of marking and handling EPWs:

Segregate EPWs from each other, search them, and stage them nearby a CCP marked with a red X on the ground near them, or the nearest wall.

Army Health System Support.

Medical Command and Control:

Alpha Company Platoon doctor is in charge of facilitating timely medical care to the wounded.

Commander's Intent:
17th Forces will act as a QRF for NATO forces Distributed throughout the entire AO. Rangers will be Inserted by helicopter to assist friendly forces in the defense and counterattack of their Areas of Responsibility.

    • Dutch forces are under assault at OBJ Portunus, 17th forces will infiltrate from the southwest and assist in the defense and counterattack of the port. Once the situation is mostly in hand, we will begin staggered advances to the next OBJ.

OBJ PORTUNUS

  • Phase IV: Objective 2

    • British forces are under attack at OBJ Palatua, Rangers will infiltrate from the south and assist defenders in repelling the attack. Ambushes can be set along the hills overlooking the North to South roadways. Once the situation is mostly in hand, we will begin staggered advances to the next OBJ.

OBJ PALATUA

  • Phase V: Objective 3

    • Dutch forces are under assault at OBJ Mercury, Rangers will infiltrate from the south and conduct combat patrols around the towns of Novy Sobor and Stary Sobor to ambush enemy forces moving on the objective. Once the situation is mostly in hand, we will begin staggered advances to the next OBJ.

OBJ MERCURY

  • Phase VI: Objective 4

    • Obj Falacer has fallen under enemy control, Rangers will Assault the town and prevent enemy forces from conducting follow on actions. Once the situation is mostly in hand, we will begin staggered advances to the next OBJ. (THIS OBJECTIVE IS THE LAST MANDATORY BATTALION OBJ, ANY FURTHER OBJECTIVES WILL BE TIME AND SITUATION DEPENDENT)

OBJ FALACER

  • Phase VIII: Objective 5 & 6

    • 17th forces will bypass OBJ Terminus in favor of OBJ Orcus. British forces are under heavy assault from CDF forces at OBJ Orcus. Rangers will Infiltrate from the south, and assist the Brits with their defence. Expect to send squads/teams to conduct spoiling attacks. Debrief will occur at this OBJ.

  • Phase VI: RP/AAR

    • All units prepare for debrief.

  • Green: This is used to mark friendly positions on the field.
  • Blue: Marking suitable locations for Landing Zones.
  • Red: This is used for marking enemy positions for all units to reference.
  • Yellow: This is used to inform friendly forces that Immediate medical support is needed.
  • Purple: This color represents a friendly position with enemy units danger close, Anyone outside of 100 meters away from the smoke should be assumed hostile.
  • Orange: This tells anyone in the air that a friendly unit is in desperate need of resupply.
