Pre-Campaign Lore

The world changed in less than twenty minutes.

When intelligence confirmed that the rogue state known as Res Publica had prepared a second-strike capability against American forces operating near Farabad, NATO command urged restraint. Washington ignored them.

What followed would become known across the globe as The Ashfall Exchange — a retaliatory nuclear strike authorized unilaterally by the United States against strategic military targets tied to Res Publica’s war machine. Entire regions burned. Millions watched the horizon ignite through phone screens before global communications collapsed into panic.

NATO’s response came swiftly.

For the first time in modern history, the United States was expelled from the alliance it helped create.

Within seventy-two hours:

All NATO cooperation with the U.S. military ceased.

American assets stationed overseas were seized or blockaded.

The United Nations imposed crushing sanctions.

Allied governments condemned Washington as an unstable aggressor.

The global economy entered freefall.

The American war machine — built over generations, sustained by endless contracts, oil, steel, and blood — suddenly found itself isolated.

But empires do not die quietly.

THE NEW AMERICAN DOCTRINE

With international trade collapsing and domestic unrest spiraling out of control, the United States government unveiled a classified emergency initiative:

THE CONTINENTAL RECOVERY DIRECTIVE

The objective was simple: Secure strategic resources by force before the nation’s economy imploded completely.

West Africa became the primary target.

Rich in rare earth minerals, oil reserves, uranium deposits, and deep-water ports, the region represented America’s last opportunity to maintain its military-industrial dominance. Publicly, Washington denied any intention of invasion. Behind closed doors, however, Pentagon leadership prepared for a rapid colonial-style occupation under the guise of “counter-terror stabilization operations.”

The operation would be fast. Brutal. Over before the world could organize a response.

A three-day war.

Or so they hoped.

WEST AFRICA PREPARES FOR WAR

American satellites observed unprecedented military mobilization across the region.

Coalition governments throughout West Africa unified under a joint defensive pact. Border fortifications appeared overnight. Airfields were converted into anti-air strongholds. Civilian populations armed themselves in preparation for resistance.

Worse still for Washington: elements of the British Armed Forces and UN peacekeeping detachments had begun assisting local defense forces under emergency authorization from the Security Council.

Officially, they were there to preserve stability.

Unofficially, they were preparing to fight Americans.

The world stood on the edge of another global conflict.

And everyone knew the first shots would decide everything.

THE SPEARHEAD

17TH RANGER BATTALION

When diplomacy failed and fear replaced reason, the United States turned to the only people it trusted to accomplish the impossible.

The 17th Ranger Battalion.

Veterans of black operations, urban extermination campaigns, and denied operations across multiple continents, the 17th had earned a reputation even allied forces feared. Their existence sat somewhere between myth and war crime.

Where conventional units stalled, the 17th advanced.

Fast. Violent. Relentless.

Their orders for the opening phase of Operation Heaven’s Fall were absolute:

Seize critical ports before UN intervention.

Destroy regional anti-air networks.

Eliminate military leadership.

Secure mining and oil infrastructure.

Crush resistance before international reinforcements arrive.

There would be no occupation doctrine. No nation-building. No hearts and minds.

Only shock and domination.

To the Pentagon, the operation was about resources.

To the Rangers, it was survival.

Because if America lost here… America itself might not survive the decade.
AN UNLIKELY ALLY

As global condemnation mounted and allies abandoned Washington, one unexpected force emerged from the chaos.

PENTASTAR ELITE

A private military conglomerate so infamous that even governments denied working with them publicly.

Mercenaries. Smugglers. Ex-special forces. Corporate raiders.

Men who fought not for ideology — but for legacy, profit, and the thrill of violence.

At the center of it all stood a figure spoken about in military circles like an urban legend:

TYRONE

The Man. The Myth. The Legend.

Stories about him varied wildly depending on who told them.

Some claimed he once orchestrated the collapse of an insurgency using only twelve operators and a cargo ship full of stolen Soviet weapons.

Others swore he personally executed a coup in under forty-eight hours before disappearing with the treasury.

Most assumed he wasn’t real.

Until Pentastar Elite arrived in West Africa.

No flags. No insignia. Only black aircraft crossing the Atlantic under radio silence.

Their proposal to the United States government was simple:

“You need soldiers willing to win. We need a battlefield worthy of history.”

Nobody knows what Tyrone truly wants.

Money? Power? Chaos? A seat at the table of the new world order?

What is known is this:

Where Pentastar Elite deploys, atrocities follow.

And now they stand beside the 17th Ranger Battalion at the opening of the most dangerous military operation in modern history.

THE COMING STORM

The invasion begins in 72 hours.

UN observers are evacuating inland. British advisors are digging defensive lines. West African coalition forces are preparing for a prolonged insurgency. NATO intelligence assets monitor the coastline, waiting for the United States to make the first mistake.

Meanwhile, somewhere aboard a carrier group operating far off the African coast, Ranger platoons conduct final briefings beneath red lights while Pentastar contractors laugh over loaded weapons and crates of unmarked equipment.

The world no longer sees the United States as a liberator.

Now they are the invaders.

And the men of the 17th Ranger Battalion are about to become the face of a new American empire forged in fire, sanctions, and desperation.
