Situation
Time/Date : 0745 / 16 April 2024
Weather : Mostly cloudy, slight chance of rain
Area of Operation (AO):
GOS Al Rayak ; North Eastern Region
Forces in Play:
Opfor:
- Houthis
- Yemeni Armed Forces
- Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP)
- Iranian Military Advisors
Most Likely Course of Action : Some roads are rigged with IEDs to repel/delay Rangers while OPFOR begins entrenching within POI’s in the region
Most Deadly Course of Action : All MSRs/ASRs are rigged with IEDs and enemies have staged for ambushes upon common routes as well as reinforced all nearby camps/towns
Blufor:
- 17th Ranger Battalion, US Army
Greenfor:
- n/a
Engagement Criteria:
- Civilians and civilian infrastructure are present all across the AO. After several civilian hostages were discovered and then left behind by the Rangers during Operation Scorpion, some civilians are now openly hostile towards BLUFOR. Great care must be taken to preserve civilian infrastructure to avoid the populace turning farther away from BLUFOR.
Mission:
Execution:
After a major stab to the heart of OPFOR, its time to push the knife even harder - Rangers are being assigned with their specialty of a Convoy Operation. Instead of racing from each point, we will be conducting route clearance which mainly includes neutralizing any/all IEDs located upon the primary route of travel between home and our next FOB.
After reaching the end of our road, we will arrive at OBJ Bass (Darkhush) and OBJ Minnow (Batiyah), which consists of two towns that are closeby in distance. Between both towns, will be our next FOB, known as FOB Perch. Upon completion of construction, Rangers should have already OR gotten ready to clear any remaining nearby camps that could affect further operations/nearby movements. OPFOR has also been caught red handed with mobile artillery, before we get too deep into the mission, RRC will deploy to take out all batteries and return for forward movement reconnaissance.
Objectives:
- (RRC) OBJ Gill - Mobile artillery batteries, will need to be wiped before battalions first contact with OPFOR
- OBJ Bass - Town of Darkhush - Sweep and clear to allow FOB Perch creation to begin
- OBJ Minnow - Town of Batiyah - Sweep and clear while FOB Perch is created
- FOB Perch - In between both towns - Will need to be defended while remaining Rangers are occupied clearing adjacent OPFOR camps
- Defuse IED's between PL Shark and PL Whale
- Clear OBJ Bass and OBJ Minnow from all OPFOR
- Defend FOB Perch while also sending squads to clear remaining OPFOR camps
- Setup/Command Convoy
- Provide logistical support utilizing ground crews (Ground JIPs and SOV for convoy support)
- Provide artillery support via Paladins
- Provide CAS for Ranger movements
- Assist in creation of FOB Perch
- Clear OBJ Gill and destroy and artillery assets from further usage
- Provide forward reconnaissance of battalion maneuvers
- Assist in creation/defense of FOB Perch
CONOP:
-
Phase 0: Connect to Operations Server
- Server will be going live earlier than normal to allow RRC to step off early and for Echo to organize vehicles. Everyone else will load in 15 minutes prior UNLESS told otherwise
-
Phase I: Brief
- Mission Maker/BCO will open up with a general briefing, followed by Alpha, Echo, and RRC with their overall movements
-
Phase II: Prep
- Conduct final preparation and last second planning. Make adjustments to the primary assault plan based on info from RRC. Rangers will then board their vehicles of the convoy and move towards the contested region
-
Phase III: Route Clearance
- Defuse/destroy any located IEDs along the road between PL Shark and PL Whale. Enemies now know we are behind their lines so we can expect ambushes/counter assaults during this primary maneuver
-
Phase IV: OBJ Bass/OBJ Minnow
- Sweep and clear both towns to ensure a safe creation of FOB Perch
-
Phase V: FOB Perch
- Create and fortify FOB Perch for future operations. During this phase Rangers should be defending the FOB while also seeking out any remaining OPFOR camps in the area nearby
-
Phase VI: RP/AAR
-
All units prepare for debrief.
