Time: 1045 UTC+3
Weather: Partly Cloudy

Situation:

The 17th Ranger Battalion successfully destroyed the main human trafficking route bringing foreign fighters into Al Rayak on 22 April during Operation Jackal. The enemy has been unable to reinforce as much as before, and so the region has been quiet since. HUMINT has not gathered anything other than weak whispers and smoky shadows. Coalition forces have taken advantage of the lull in fighting to establish a new base, called Camp Goalpost, at the airport southeast of Al Safyrah. Other than help in the construction of the new camp, the 17th has just been sitting and waiting for the vague to turn into the verifiable, but we finally have something to do:

We will conduct a humanitarian convoy from Camp Goalpost across the southern area of Al Rayak, drop supplies at several towns along the way, and then return to Camp Goalpost.

Enemy Forces

OPFOR:
  • Houthis
  • AQAP

Friendly Forces

BLUFOR:
  • 17th Ranger Battalion
  • 160th SOAR

Civilian Considerations:

Dedicated humanitarian efforts from coalition forces and IDAP are starting to greatly improve the opinion of the average civilian towards BLUFOR. We must improve on this opinion of us by continuing to Positively Identify all targets and avoiding damage to civilian infrastructure where possible. The successful completion of this mission will greatly increase the opinion of the civilians in these areas.

Rules of Engagement:

Military-aged males in military uniform are to be shot on sight. Armed civilians and local police forces are to be fired on only if fired upon. All mosques and other religious sites are completely off-limits, unless enemies are firing on friendlies. Only then may we enter these religious sites, but we must only use our rifles; no mortars, artillery rounds, rockets, or any other weapon system other than our rifles are permitted to be used on religious sites. The opinion of the general populace will turn against us quickly even if we justifiable destroy a mosque.

Mission:

The 17th Rangers have been tasked with conducting a humanitarian convoy from Camp Goalpost to these locations: Sanobar, Al Quatria, Saloren, Siano, Elkorum, Hajin, Dayr Hafir, Jasim, Al Tabqah, Karemlesh, Al Manzoul, Hamrat, Rash Kabar, Al Samouk, Ghalam, and then return to Camp Goalpost. Insurgents may or may not be present in all of these locations, so we must be prepared.

Execution:

Rangers will begin and end at Camp Goalpost. At every town/village center, Rangers shall drop off a medical supply crate and a provisions crate (to be provided by mission maker). In Dayr Hafir and Al Tabqah, Rangers shall drop off two medical crates and two provisions crates. All IEDs and other explosives shall be cleared from main roads and inside towns. Insurgent ambushes, attacks, advances, and other activity shall be annihilated. Civilians who are injured shall be treated to the best of our ability.

Clarifications: because I know y'all are going to have some questions.

The priority is clearing the route and towns of IEDs and insurgents, and clearing any insurgent camps we find. The humanitarian items will increase the populace's opinion of us and will have consequences later on if not delivered.

There is an ROE above. Read it. If I hear anyone asking what the ROE is, I'll assume you're a Marine (because you can't read), and Marines are not welcome here. Go eat your crayons and try to color between the lines this time.

Why send the Rangers? Because the region has been quiet for too long, and Command are worried about this convoy, so they're sending the best they have.

I drove the whole route in a battle bus and did not drop below ~5/8 of a tank.

If you read this far down, good for you. Know that I love you and you're my favorite.
