RRC Opord

Situation

The main force of the 17th Ranger Battalion will be making landfall at 0430, and then immediately staging for an attack on suspected enemy artillery positions IOT establish a secure base of operations on the archipelago.

The enemy has cut off main roads into the area, and Anti-aircraft threat envelope is expected to be high. Reconnaissance action will be required on the ground to assist in pinpointing areas of likely enemy ingress and egress from the area, as well as notating any positions where the enemy may be deploying their artillery batteries.

Area of Operation (AO):

Forces in Play:

Opfor:

  • Batonan National Army
  • Russian Expeditionary Force (Potential)

Blufor:

  • 17th Ranger Battalion
  • Fapovan National Army

Greenfor:

  • n/a

Engagement Criteria:

Humanitarian Aid Workers suspected to still be present in the AO, currently held by enemy forces.

Mission:

RRC is being tasked with effecting an amphibious insertion into the AO from the USS Liberty, with the intent of conducting covert reconnaissance within the area of operations. Contact with enemy forces is to be minimized IOT maintain the element of surprise for the main attack. As such, support options will be minimal.

Enemy forces are suspected to be illegally detaining humanitarian aid workers in the area, if possible secondary objectives are to PID any relevant intel regarding their location and disposition.

Execution:

RRC will deploy from the USS Liberty and make landfall at LZ Popeye. From LZ Popeye, RRC will deploy in and around OP X-RAY to scout the immediate area. Following this, Tiger 1 will move to OP Zulu and conduct recon on the Western AO: OBJs Pepper, Salt, and PoI Obama. From OP X-RAY, Tiger 2 will scout POI Fitter, then move to OP Whiskey. At OP Whiskey, Tiger 2 will recon Points of Interests on the Eastern edge of the AO and mountain ranges to the North in search of SPAA and massed infantry/vehicle presence.

Whichever team completes recon first will relocate to OP Yankee and conduct longer range recon on PoIs further Northwest. If time permits, each team will investigate POI Stormtrooper and POI Passchendaele in search of long-range artillery. Teams will not move past the designated Limit of Advance.

Objectives:

  1. Search for medium SPAA in the mountains surrounding AO
  2. Search for mortar and artillery pieces within the AO
  3. Gather intelligence on UN Cultural Heritage site and attempt to locate UN workers
  4. Ascertain enemy dispositions and strongpoints within AO
  5. Search for long-range artillery pieces outside the AO.

CONOP:

  • Phase 0:

  • Phase I: Brief (5:15)

    • Load in and prepare for Briefing
  • Phase II: Prep (5:20)

    • Load Kits and prep boats
  • Phase III: Step off (5:20 -> 5:30)

  • Phase IV: Observe & Infiltrate

    • Drone Operators conduct route reconnaissance towards OP Zulu and POI Fitter from OP X-Ray.
    • Tiger 1 moves to OP Zulu and scouts OBJ Pepper, Salt, and Obama, searching for enemy garrisons, SPAA, and UN workers.
    • Tiger 2 moves to OP Whiskey and scouts POI Tomcat for large-scale enemy garrisons. Following POI Tomcat, Tiger 2 scouts POI Strela, IceAge, and Fishbed for SPAA positions.
    • Phase IV concludes following a re-scan of all assigned objectives and Points of Interest.
  • Phase V: Additional Recon

    • The team that finishes their Phase IV recon first (hereby referred to as Tiger X) moves to OP Yankee and conducts recon on PoI Flanker and Flogger. PoI Skyhawk is a mountain range between PoI Flanker and Flogger and should also be scanned. If ALIVE spawn distance allows, Tiger X conducts recon on OBJ Cayenne for enemy dispositions and OBJ Stormtrooper for long-range artillery.
    • The remaining Tiger team (Hereby referred to as Tiger Y) will move to OP Whiskey to conduct recon on PoI Ana (Port City) for large enemy garrisons and PoI Passchendaele for medium/long-range artillery.
    • Phase V concludes following a re-scan of all assigned objectives and Points of Interest.
  • Phase VI: Extraction

    • Upon BOTH teams' completion of Phase V, Tiger elements will move from their OPs to LZ Popeye extract via boats. Should ANY team come under positive contact, the sister Tiger element will manuever to support by fire while engaged troops retreat. Once contact is broken, immediately retreat to LZ Popeye and extra via boats regardless of mission progress.
  • Phase VII: RP/AAR

    • All units prepare for debrief.
