Situation:

Approximately two days ago, Batonan forces attacked across the border in a mass combined arms attack, destroying a small hydroelectric dam and using the ensuing destruction caused by the flooding to seize the nearby town nearly without resistance.

They have since established forward artillery positions due northeast of our intended base of operations Ivanograd Airport, designated as MOB HARDEE, and have been regularly shelling Fapovan positions, infrastructure, and routes of transit. As we are working to establish a secure foothold on the island, our first order of business is to silence those guns.

Due to the presence of significant anti-air threats, ISR has been minimal, but we estimate at least three or four company sized elements are operating in the area supporting continuing bombardments.

Civilian Considerations:

Humanitarian Aid Workers suspected to still be present in the AO, currently held by enemy forces.

Mission:

Command wants the 17th to go on the offensive, take the fight to the enemy, and take out those artillery positions. Batonan forces have been maintaining a high tempo of operations, so we expect their supply chain is going to be strained this far forward. The immediate mission intent is to secure our base of operations from further indirect fire, and pressure the enemy further inland.

Intel received from civilians that were fleeing the area indicate that a humanitarian operation was underway prior to the attack, and it is suspected that they are now being illegally held by enemy forces. Secondary mission objective is to locate and rescue the aid workers.

Execution:

  • INSERT, Low altitude air-mobile insertion, or amphibious.

  • Identify and neutralize or destroy artillery positions using supporting fires or direct attack.

  • Locate, rescue, and evacuate IDAP workers from captivity.

  • Conduct hasty reconnaissance and SSE within the immediate AO

  • Degrade enemy presence within the AO

  • Preserve any/all civilian infrastructure, historical, and cultural sites.
