Situation:
Enemy Forces
OPFOR:
- Mariterran Liberation Front (MLF)
Friendly Forces
BLUFOR:
- U.S. 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division*
- Carrier Strike Group 6
- Mariterran Union (MU)
Civilian Considerations:
- Civilians are still present in major urban areas
- Preserve as much civilian infrastructure as possible
Mission:
The 3rd BCT has been activated to deploy into Mariterra ahead of the 17th Rangers. They have managed to push along several fronts across the frontline, securing several key points of interest that have effectively isolated the MLF on the main northern island. However, the 3rd BCT has entered a deadlock with the MLF as several of the connecting bridges have been blown, hindering logistics movements and further progression. In addition, the MLF control Rassa Airport, one of the major airports in all of Mariterra, and control a sizable fleet of aircraft that have been able to conduct airstrikes on our forward positions. The 17th Rangers has been dispatched to strike into the heart of the MLF’s defenses and capture the Rassa Airport, dividing the MLF into two.
In addition to this task, one of the major cities standing in the way between our forces is Sebring. MU Intelligence has ascertained that several key officials are being held hostage in the city. These include Director Nerak, district manager of the prominent Pufferfish Corporation that has spearheaded the development of oil facilities across Mariterra, and Governor Sisko, an MU-aligned loyalist that was in charge of the Terra Ceia region and was deposed. In addition, two MIA US pilots, CPT Marvin Huxley and LT James Orwell, have been located inside Sebring. All four of them are to be rescued.
Execution:
The 17th Rangers will launch initial operations from Carrier Strike Group 6, conduct raids on suspected locations of where the prisoners were last known to be, and assault the Rassa Airport.
The Rassa Airport is defended by an AAA net with several SAM sites surrounding the AO. We have determined that its effective range is around 4 to 5 KM around the Airport. There is a control center in the Airport that can be captured to effectively neutralize the AAA sites and be used to target enemy air assets. It is ill advised to destroy these sites.
The MLF possesses a formidable force of mixed assets, including BTR-60’s and T-55A’s, as well as a fleet of Mig-21 planes. We have reason to suspect that NORINCO, China’s primary weapons manufacturer, is also supplying the MLF with assets as well.
